IRS - Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Symposium
You are invited to join our one hour Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Symposium via Microsoft Teams on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 1:00pm EDT.
During this symposium,
• You will learn about the resources available at the IRS to assist LEP clients. These resources include educational tax information available in multiple languages, our Over the Phone Interpreter (OPI) services that assist volunteers with preparing returns for taxpayers that speak another language, and much more.
• You will also hear about the valuable services Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) partners provide to their LEP clients.
The Internal Revenue Service offers an opportunity to partner through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and/or Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) sponsored program(s). As a VITA/TCE partner you will have the chance to make a difference in your community by providing service to both individuals and families. This service is especially valuable when the people in your community do not speak English as their primary language and may not be able to speak, read, or understand English well.
The VITA/TCE is a program that helps taxpayers who may not be able to afford the services of a paid tax preparer. There are currently tax preparation sites operated by IRS partners conveniently located in community centers, churches, and libraries across the country. There is always a need for additional sites. We are excited about your interest in learning about LEP services or joining this wonderful program.
Please click on the link below to attend the symposium. If you cannot attend, we would be happy to schedule a call to discuss your interest in the program and how you can open a site that serves the LEP community.
